Danielle Carlson, CNM
Approach to Care:
Danielle is dedicated to an inclusive and evidence-based model of care. She believes that it is her role as a midwife to meet people where they are and provide them with the tools needed to feel their best. She believes the more informed people are about their bodies and their options, the more empowered they are.
Education and Work Experience:
Danielle grew up in Palo Alto, California. She completed her undergraduate education in Business at Washington University in St. Louis. While an undergrad, she studied in Copenhagen for a semester and took a course taught by a midwife. This course opened her eyes to the midwifery model of care, which resonated with her on many levels.
After graduating, Danielle worked in healthcare consulting. During this time, Danielle volunteered as a doula at San Francisco General. She was amazed by the humanizing and grounding care midwives provided, which motivated her to go back to school to pursue midwifery.
Danielle moved to Atlanta, Georgia where she attended Emory University. There, she completed her BSN and became a Registered Nurse (RN). While pursuing her MSN in Nurse-Midwifery, Danielle worked as an RN at a birth center. She feels fortunate to have experience in out-of-hospital birth and strives to incorporate a birth center-like environment into the hospital setting. This includes minimizing intervention and maximizing safety, birth experience, and empowerment.
More about Danielle:
When she is not working, she enjoys spending time with her partner, family, and friends. She loves eating good food, being near or in water, hiking, and exploring. She also enjoys a good laugh; jokes are always welcome.
